Time To Fix The Recreation Ground

West Coker is fortunate to have the Recreation Ground located in Halves Lane. It exists for the benefit of children and young people in the village (though others are most welcome) and is looked after by trustees – who are also West Coker’s Parish Councillors.  Anyone who has visited the ground recently will be aware that it needs major attention, notably to the three ‘buildings’ on the west side (Pavilion, Scout/Guide hut and Cricket Club), and to the flood-prone tennis courts.  The trustees and the main organisations who use the facility (Girl Guides, Scouts, Youth Club, Cricket Club) are now working together:

1. To replace all three existing buildings with a single new building which will meet all needs
To improve and extend  facilities for sports and games

WP_20140107_003aThe first task is to create a plan and business case in order to seek money from possible funding sources.  We have to define what we want, how the needs will be satisfied, what it will cost to put in place, and how it will be maintained.  The first of these gives us the opportunity to seek the views of the users – the people of West Coker. Note that we are NOT competing with the Commemoration Hall.  Please take a few minutes to give answers to some questions. Either complete the questionnaire in the February 2014 Ropewalker, and hand it in at West Coker Garage or Post Office – by the END of MARCH please, or do it now on-line by clicking this link:
